Michiana Spring Clay Tour

The first annual Michiana Spring Clay Tour is finally here. This Saturday, May 24th, 19 studios across the region will open their doors for guests to see behind the scenes of where artists work.

On a quiet cul-de-sac, behind an arching crab apple tree, past a lovely old viburnum, and through an old wooden gate, you will find my little studio.

It began its life as a storage shed for lawn equipment and patio furniture, but in 2013, I began to transform it into a functioning pottery studio. The building's original purpose found me with an old metal overhead door that allowed the elements (and squirrels) in, not providing much comfort in the winter. Power was supplied by an orange extension cord that ran from the house to power the lights and my old Randall wheel, which I had purchased from a gentleman in Indianapolis. Plugging in a space heater often overloaded the power strip and threw me into darkness. Over the years, upgrades have been made, and you will now find a light-filled, fully functional ceramics studio in the once drafty and dark storage shed.

My studio will be open from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. You can find it by searching for Lorie Marsh Ceramics on Google Maps. Simply type Lorie Marsh Ceramics into the search bar, or the street address is 51865 Sharon Court, Granger, IN. Clicking on the map below will take you to all 19 open studios. Please feel free to park in the driveway or on the street, being mindful that this is a residential neighborhood. You will find the orange NICA sign posted out front, and directional signs to assist you in finding your way through the yard and back to the studio.

Inside you'll find the tiny pots we all love, along with some cups and saucers that I introduced at last year's shows, and some new work made just for this show. I hope to see you on Saturday!
