There's truly nothing better than pie except perhaps pie and ice cream. BUT, throw in a handmade plate as well as support arts for the children, and you had me at Hello.
And so, my project this week is making plates for an awesome cause - Goshen Youth Arts.
The first four plates, above, showed promise. It got warmer than anticipated Sunday afternoon, though, and one cracked. Down to three. Monday night I trimmed the plates, but was interrupted when I stopped to talk to my landscaper and his wife. When I finally made it back to the plate, I immediately sat down to work without checking the plugs.....
Shortly after I began trimming, I shot the plate off the wheel head. It bounced off the mirror behind the wheel, landed on the kick wheel, and shot across the studio floor, causing the dog to bark and run. I could not help but laugh hysterically. What an amateur move! I wisely left the remaining two plates for another time.
Last night, under more peaceful circumstances, I trimmed the survivors and threw four more plates before going in for dinner and to bake a batch of Anzac biscuits in celebration of Anzac Day. They are such tasty treats, I wish it were Anzac Day every day.
Here's to hoping tonight will provide successful trimming and throwing; because nothing is better than pie....except maybe Pie and Plate.
